An afrocentric “buy-African” lover exposed us to yet another one of her “made in Nigeria” brands about two years ago. Being that we are late bloomers, there was little to no excitement for the ginormous alligator-skin handbag (handbag is actually an understatement), we decided to let her love for these African goods die down. Fast forward to a few months ago, we stumbled upon Zashadu on the ‘gram, and we fell all the way down in love with her clutches.
We reached out to her and in about a week of conversing, we were able to meet the wonderwoman (Zainab) face-to-face. Her interior was the first thing that left us gob-smacked. It was the perfect Interior Living TM space. Every element was pure perfection… We still drool, just thinking about it and we hope we can share the beauty of her humble resting place with you. We actually wanted to buy a clutch but left with THREE!! Between being in awe with her interior, her warm personality, and her genius, we just had to. We also have a custom design coming up soon and we hope to flaunt it for New Year’s. [watch this space]
Here’s a bit about the company: Zashadu is a leading British/Nigerian sustainable luxury brand, that specialises in hand-crafted leather pieces. We work with local sustainably sourced leathers, farmed exotic skins and rough cut precious stones set in brass. All their pieces are created at their workspace in Lagos, Nigeria, by a team that benefits from traditional techniques passed down through generations by a community of local artisans. At Zashadu they love to explore the tension between quiet elegance and unabashed glamour. The brand avoids the use of superfluous fittings and fixtures in order to give precedence to the leathers.
